DRIEKOP
A 31 year old man died when a Scania truck crushed his RDP house at Mohlophe village in Driekop on Tuesday. The house was completely destroyed during the incident. The house was just next to the R37 next to the Sehlaku Technical School.
The truck had two trailers loaded with chrome. It was reportedly travelling from Polokwane to Witbank.
“We can confirm that a 31-year-old man was killed while sleeping, when a truck crashed into his house next to the R37. It is alleged the driver of the truck had lost control, veered off the road and crashed into the house,” said Limpopo spokesman for transport and community Safety Mike Maringa.
The truck driver also allegedly sustained severe injuries and he was rushed to the Dilokong hospital for treatment. The deceased man was confirmed as Solomon Jeremiah Ward.
The deceased was the only occupant in the house at the time of the incident. His three siblings survived during the freak incident.
Maringa added, “Our thoughts are with the bereaved family. We pray that the injured man also recovers.”
Limpopo SAPS spokesman Col Moatshe Ngoepe said they were busy with investigations of a culpable homicide case
