Bruised and partially decomposed body of girl shocks residents
LEEUWFONTEIN – The gruesome discovery of the body of a teenage girl recently has sent shock waves among the community members of Leeuwfontein Township and Manapyane Village outside Marble Hall who soon after took to social media platforms in condemnation of the murder and calling for police to act expedite in apprehension the perpetrators.
The discovery of the 15 year-old girl’s body, which had bruises and was partially decomposed, in shrubs near a mountain in the area was made on Tuesday, 04 May 2021 at about 12:10 by a man fetching wood in the veld.
Limpopo provincial police have confirmed that a case of murder has been opened with South African Police Service (SAPS) in Motetema.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said the police were called by members of the community about the discovery of the girl’s body and on arrival, the bruised body that was partially decomposed was found.
Mojapelo informed that preliminary police investigations revealed that the 15 year-old left home with a female friend on Saturday 01 May 2021 at about 21:00 and she never returned until her bruised and partially decomposed body was found that day.
He added that the body of the 15 year-old deceased was positively identified by her mother as that of Precious Nthloro Kolo from Mshongoville section between Leeuwfontein and Manapyane.
Police cautioned parents and guardians against permitting children to leave their homes at night as that may easily subject them to acts of criminality.
No arrests have been made and anyone with information about the suspect(s) is requested to contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Pex Marei Thobejane on 072 249 1663. Investigations are continuing.
