Women’s Business Seminar, a resounding success
LEEUWFONTEIN – Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality in partnership with Local Women’s Business Forum and SEDA hosted a business seminar and Gala dinner at Zwavhudi Guest House in Leeuwfontein Township outside Marble Hall on Thursday, 31 August.
The event was celebrated under the theme: “Accelerating socio-economic opportunities for women’s empowerment”.
Boisterous business women across the length and breadth of Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality used to platform to share their experiences on how to access funding and make their businesses grow big and be able to compete with big businesses.
The need for women’s exploration of opportunities in mining, agriculture and tourism sectors rose during the discussion.
Dr Motlatso Phiri, a successful businesswoman from Burgersfort, encouraged women to take their businesses serious by ensuring that they make them thrive.
Phiri told the women that can be achieved through research, education and applying for funds from financial institutions at their disposal.
Maureen Boshielo, who represented SEDA, made a clarion call to all women to come to their offices and apply for funding and other related services that their office is offering. Boshielo said her office have funded many women around the municipality in sectors like catering, hospitality and agriculture.
Representing Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor, Lizzy Lekoatsipa said: “Women, you must stand up and fight for our economic space. Gone are those days when women were subjected to cooking and cleaning. We must at all material times, infiltrate the market and grab every economic opportunity that presents itself to us.”
