Drug dealer arrested in Ga-Moretsele

Members of Public Order Policing in Groblersdal Unit have arrested a 25-year-old man for dealing in dagga. The suspect was arrested at Ga-Moretsele Village outside Jane Furse on Thursday 24 August 2023.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said the suspect was arrested by the police who were traveling along R579 Road, going to Groblersdal from a Mine Combating Operation in Driekop at around 15:00.

“The police spotted a suspicious hawker selling peanuts at a speed hump. They stopped their vehicle and tactically approached him. The suspect was searched and they found three rolls of dagga wrapped in a plastic and 156 small sachets of dagga. The suspect further handed another plastic of dagga from his storage. He was immediately arrested for dealing and possession of dagga,” explained Ledwaba.

He said the confiscated dagga was at an estimated street value of R5000-00 and the suspect will appear before the Sekhuhune Magistrate’s Court soon.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo, praised the police members for being vigilant, saying that swiftly resulted into the arrest of the suspect who was fronting as a street vendor selling peanuts.
