Stillborn allegedly slips into a pit toilet

Limpopo SAPS have opened a case of concealment of birth after a stillborn baby reportedly slipped into a toilet while the mother was using it to relieve herself.
The incident happened at Ga Motshana village on 25 July. According to the SAPS, the 28-year-old mentally challenged woman gave birth and the stillborn baby fell into a pit toilet while she was using it.
Limpopo SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said Search and Rescue Team as well as Emergency Services personnel discovered the stillborn baby and it was retrieved.
“The 28-year-old mentally challenged woman was taken to Dilokong Hospital for medical attention and police have since opened a case of concealment of birth.”
Limpopo SAPS commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has since cautioned families to take care of mentally challenged family members and also get professional help for them.
“To prevent this kind of disaster, we are pleading with the community to take care of mentally challenged family members and send them to the appropriate institution for their wellbeing.”
