A young boy from Tubatse shined in the ASA National Cross-Country Championships. The athletics were held in Rustenburg, North West this past weekend. Among the participants was Tubatse’s own Oscilius Junior Mosoma (11).
The young lad hails from Praktiseer and is a pupil of Northern Academy Primary School (Curro) in Polokwane. His mentor and trainer, Henk Lottering, said the boy is talented and has a bright future in athletics.
Lottering described Oscilius as someone who has pace and endurance and can compete in both short and long races.
“To qualify for the national event, he had been outstanding in the knockouts. He excelled in the Thabazimbi, Modimolle and Groblersdal competitions.
“He then competed in the provincial cross-country championships at Lephalale. That is where he was chosen along with 16 under participants to represent Limpopo. He was the only one from our school to qualify for the nationals,” said Lottering.
In Rustenbug, Oscilius did not manage a podium finish, but he brought home a medal for participation. The young lad is eager to compete in other athletics competitions to perfect his talents.
