A cyclone of excellence to hit Limpopo
LIMPOPO – On Friday 22 and Saturday 23 January 2021 the newly elected Executive Committee of Limpopo Sports Confederation (LSC), the controlling body of sport in the province, embarked on a two-day planning meeting for the term of office 2021 – 2024. The session focused on ushering a new era for the sports development and elite excellence in Limpopo. According to President of Limpopo Sports Confederation Mr Ally Pole there is no doubt that Limpopo is the country’s reservoir of talent and other provinces that have better system for polishing this talent are taking the glory.
President Pole and his collective committed the closed session to emerge with the best strategies, systems and institutional arrangements to ensure that every talented child of Limpopo is not deprived sporting success. Under the new motto: Excelling through Excellence, Limpopo Sports Confederation has renewed its commitment to deliver highest standards of sports development and elite excellence in the Limpopo sport fraternity. This was expressed by binding each member of the Executive Committee with a portfolio programme and deliverables.
The portfolios are arranged as follows: Mr Ally Pole, the President, will be responsible for Presidential Tasks such as stakeholder relations and the skills development regime that includes active programmes with CATHSETA (the sector education and training authority for sport); Mr Leon Bannau, first Deputy President, is entrusted with transformation and governance which includes the Constitutional Amendments; Mr Phuti Kgomo, second Deputy President, is accountable for Limpopo Academy of Sport, sports commission and tertiary sport; Ms Clarika Strydom as Secretarygeneral is responsible for overall administration of LSC; Ms Louise Blignaut, Deputy Secretary, is responsible for coordination of associate members such as multi-code programmes for institutions such as police, municipalities and the army.
The first additional member Ms Tlou Langa is coordinating sport for people with disability, school sport and women in sport; the second additional member Mr Atang Segodi is coordinating all five District Sport Confederations of Limpopo. Mr Puleng Mmotla is entrusted with the Marketing and Media portfolio while Ms Tsakani Hlungwani will be heading the legal affairs of the LSC. Among the focal points of the LSC 2021 – 2024 the Executive Committee shall focus on jerking up school sport in the advise and monitoring role, integrate modified sport and provide expertise in cross training, talent identification, coaching programmes as well as high performance. The LSC President Mr Ally Pole adds that the new collective is 2 driven and committed to achieve excellence by upholding what worked in the past, drop what didn’t work and enthusiastically embrace innovation. “In the innovation space we have the new Limpopo Sports App and interactive website on the cards.
We are going to diversify sport participation opportunities in the province’s rural areas by introducing beach sport which makes it possible to play beach volleyball, beach handball and beach football.
