Sekhukhune/Capricorn – The Desnold Caddy-wise Golf Club has embarked on ‘Green Jungle Golf Tour’ awareness that is conducted at various parts of Gauteng Province, Sekhukhune and Capricorn District Municipalities.
The sporting awareness campaign seeks to raise funds to promote golf sporting code among young people in Limpopo Province.
Kwatetsi Segafa, Desnold Caddy-wise Golf Club Chairperson, said kick-started on Saturday 4 November at Mabopane Golf Range outside Pretoria. He said the tour will be proceeding to Zebediela on Saturday 11 November, then to Tubatse Golf Range on Sunday 19 November, University of Limpopo on Saturday 25 November and to be held at Polokwane Golf Course on Friday 10 December.
“The district championships between Sekhukhune and Tshwane are scheduled to take place on Saturday 18 December at Services Golf Club in Pretoria,” he said.
Segafa indicated that during the tour, the golf club offers free golf lessons and free golf clinics.
“The tour is set to raise awareness about the sporting code to be exposed while also raising funds to buy golf equipment for our golf junior development in Limpopo. Up to so far, we are operating in two districts in Limpopo, namely Capricorn and Sekhukhune,” he said.
Segafa urged all Limpopo golfers to be part of our campaign, encouraging them to donate new and old golf equipment to keep our young stars away from the streets where they could be doing bad things and expose them into the sporting field.
“We have community driving range which is a place where golf beginner learn the sport in the two districts. Once a month we arrange professional golfer to give lessons to our under 19 years for free,” he said.
