Joretha a finalist for Miss African Beauty

 A local model, Joretha Mafane, is shining academically and also in pageants. 29-year-old Mafane from Mabocha, is making waves as a Top 30 finalist for Miss African Beauty South Africa, a national competition that leads to the global stages of Miss Universe and Miss Supranational.
Her journey is not just about beauty; it is about direction, growth, and purpose. She completed her schooling at St Thomas College and matriculated in 2014.
In 2015, she began a BSc in Computer Science at the University of Limpopo but soon realised her passion lay elsewhere. In 2016, she made a bold decision to enroll at Tshwane University of Technology, where she pursued Metallurgical Engineering.
That decision changed everything. Through discipline and determination, she went on to graduate cum laude with her honours degree, her highest academic achievement.
In 2025, she completed a postgraduate qualification in Project Management with UNISA, and she is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Mafane is not only defined by her academic excellence.
Her presence has always stood out. From a young age, people noticed something different about her walk, her confidence, and her energy. In 2021, encouraged by friends and family, she registered with the South Africa Modelling, Talent and Pageantry Academy and entered the world of pageantry and quickly proved that she belonged there.
She became Miss Mafate 2021. In 2022, she was crowned Miss United Sekhukhune Queen and went on to compete at Miss Capricorn where she was a first princess.
After taking time away to focus on her studies, she returned to the stage with intention and clarity, encouraged once again by the people who believed in her. That decision has now placed her in the Top 30 of Miss African Beauty South Africa.
Beyond the titles and achievements, she stands for something deeply personal.
She is an advocate for substance abuse and mental health awareness, driven by what she has seen in her community.
Young people who are strong, talented, and full of potential, yet quietly struggling behind the scenes. Through her platform, she wants to open real conversations in schools and communities, creating spaces where people feel safe to speak and supported enough to heal.
