MLM management engages  bursary students

The Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM)’s Municipal Manager,  Ronald Moganedi, together with Senior Manager for Corporate Services Department,  Pakeng Matsetse, held an engagement session with municipal bursary holders to connect with students, offer guidance and support.
 Moganedi, the first bursary holder to graduate, shared his experience with the Makhuduthamaga bursary and the transformation that followed this initiative after serving on the bursary committee upon completion of his university qualification. He reminded students that success comes from dedication and performance, not connections, and encouraged them to stay focused and strive for excellence. He also expressed his hope that they would one day return to contribute their skills to the municipality.

The session included students at different stages, including some graduates, showcasing the impact of the bursary programme. Students shared their excitement and motivation. One said, “It’s encouraging to know that the Municipality is listening and wants to help us succeed.” Another added, “I feel motivated to work harder now, knowing our leaders believe in our potential.”
The bursary assisted 27 bursary holders at various universities during the 2025 academic year, with six of them having completed their degrees in December 2025. The Council has budgeted more than R3 million for the financial year 2025-2026 to support exceptional young people from disadvantaged homes in the municipality. Almost half of the budget will be used to subsidize new intakes for the 2026 academic season.
