KGAUTSWANE

The mayor of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, Cllr Eddie Maila has urged drivers to be cautious on the roads. Maila joined families and mourners in Kgautšwane, Ward 24, to pay final respects to beloved community members who tragically lost their lives in the road accident that occurred on Sunday, 26 October 2025, along the R540 Dullstroom road.

“We ask our pastors and spiritual leaders to continue interceding and to pray for all road users — that our roads may be safe and protected from tragedy.”

He further emphasized the importance of responsible driving: “While the days of a person’s life are determined by God, every driver must remember that they carry precious lives. We urge taxi associations and all motorists to obey road regulations and drive responsibly so that we can minimise road fatalities. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.”

Maila expressed deep sorrow and offered support to the grieving families on behalf of the municipality and its residents: “We came here today because our community is grieving. As government, we must always draw closer to our people — especially in moments of sorrow — to comfort, support and mourn with them. We are government because of the people.”

It was confirmed that six of those who passed away were residents of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality. Five of them were laid to rest on November 1, while the sixth resident, who succumbed to injuries on October 31, will be laid to rest at a later stage.
