EFF Elias Motsoaledi Sub-Region elects new leadership

LOSKOP – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Elias Motsoaledi Sub-Region held its first elective conference on Saturday 25 October 2025, at Maroela Hiking Trails in Loskop outside Groblersdal.

The conference was a resounding success, with 80 out of 84 voting delegates accrediting successfully.

According to Ali Maloba, EFF Elias Motsoaledi Sub-Regional Coordinator, the conference aimed to assess the state of organization in the sub-region and elect new leadership.

“We met to assess our state of organization in our sub-region, to see whether we were a fit to discharge the responsibility of leading our sub-region as it goes through the difficult process of social transformation,” Maloba said.

Prior to the new leadership election, the conference started by highlighting several challenges facing the community, including poor road infrastructure, shortage of medication at local clinics, dilapidated school infrastructure, and high levels of unemployment.

The delegates also raised concerns about the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) registration process, citing difficulties faced by farm workers and tenants in registering to vote in the correct ward.

Maloba said: “The IEC has created a no-go area for black communities residing in Groblersdal, if one tries to register even online, IEC will decline the application without stating reasons.”

During the conference, the EFF vowed to continue fighting for economic emancipation, dismantling the remnants of colonial and apartheid systems, and advancing the fight for a just and equal society in Elias Motsoaledi.

The newly elected leadership, led by Chairperson Tanana Mosotho, Secretary Mahlatse Maredi, and Treasurer Irene Mammushi, has been mandated to guide the organisation through the next decisive 3 years.

Additional members elected in the conference are Alice Tshoane, Hellen Mokoena, Zandi Legasa, Mina Matibidi, Gloria Mogashoa, Sannah Mathunyane, Aubrey Mashobane, Selape Boroko, Lucas Mokabane, Chela Mohlamonyane, Asnath Makua, Xolani Mahlangu, Archie Malefahlo, and Poppy Mankge.

Maloba congratulated the newly elected leaders and wished them success in their critical organisational responsibilities.

“The loyalty of the general membership to our organization will be our pride. We dare not and will not fail,” Maloba said.

The EFF Elias Motsoaledi Sub Region has also identified several key areas of focus, including service delivery, employment opportunities, and addressing the consequences of nyaope drug in the villages.

“The other focus will be directed to dilapidated SAPS barracks, mushrooming of unregistered security companies, abandoned municipal projects and under spending by Limpopo Department of Education,” informed Maloba.
