Sekhukhune residents were shocked to see a video circulating on social media sites allegedly implying that the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality council speaker Judy Mphelane-Nkgadima allegedly had an altercation with one of the traditional leaders in the Sekhukhune area. The altercation occurred at the Peter Nchabeleng Hall in Sekhukhune last week.
Its not yet known, if a criminal case has been opened on the matter, but the Sekhukhune Times inquired with the MLM’s communications department with regards to the incident, but they were yet to issue a statement or response at the time of going to press.
Mphelane is no stranger to controversy, in October 2022, he was caught on camera allegedly shoving an elderly lady after a disagreement over land sale at a community meeting at Ga Moloi.
During the same year 2022, in May, an opposition ward councillor at the MLM threatened to sue the municipality for R30-million, after he was allegedly assaulted by Mphelane.
The sole representative of the National Communist Congress, Mosako Maapea, was allegedly tied to a pole with handcuffs. The incident allegedly happened during a council meeting where Maapea was accused of disruptions.
Community members ventured their frustrations about Mphelane’s conduct on social media, Alex Maloma said, “This kind of behavior is totally unacceptable and shameful. It shows a deep lack of respect for traditional leadership and for our communities as a whole. “
Other users said : “Go hlasela Kgoši ke go hlasela setšhaba”,
The community members also urged the MLM to render an apology to the affected Moshate . This is a developing story, updates will be provided.
