The Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality’s (MLM) Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC), has on Tuesday 23 September 2025, held a public hearing in Stocking Village, MLM Ward 14, to review the municipality’s fourth-quarter performance and financial reports for 2024/2025 financial year. The hearing focused on initiatives aimed at improving basic services.

Led by Cllr Selege Paul Diketane, the MPAC committee commended the municipality’s Executive Committee (EXCO), headed by Mayor Cllr Masekwele Merah Mahlase, for successfully implementing the Integrated National Electrification Programme (INEP) grant.

This initiative resulted in the installation of electrification infrastructure to over 500 houses in various areas, with Soetveld Village receiving 38 houses, Ga-Mabintane Village getting 124 houses, 100 houses provided for Leeukral residents and Mohlarekoma Villagers getting 247 houses.

The MPAC committee also highlighted the municipality’s achievement in implementing 92% of the Auditor General South Africa’s (AGSA) action plan for the 2024/2025 financial year, which indicates the municipality’s commitment to good governance and financial management.

The public hearing also noted that the municipality is investing in waste management services to increase its revenue base. This initiative follows the purchase and addition of five new waste disposal vehicles to the Community Services Department.

The Executive Committee applauded the management team, led by Municipal Manager Ronald Moganedi, for implementing and fulfilling set targets on time.

The Council Speaker, Cllr Judy Mphelane-Nkgadima, EXCO members, senior management team, traditional leadership, and councillors attended the hearing.
