Kgoathi Bricks honours Mmauwane Secondary’s best performing learners

Kgoathi Bricks Manufactures Mining Company together with Bana Ba Sekhukhune Community Solutions, visited Mmauwane Secondary School in Phushulang Village outside Jane Furse on Friday 1 August 2025, to honour best performing learners and educators as part of their “Lend a Hand Campaign”.
The school’s visit was aimed at congratulating learners and educators for their outstanding performance in the previous matric exam and also motivate the 2025 matric pupils.
During the visit, Frans Nkadimeng, Director of Kgoathi Bricks Manufactures, emphasized the company’s commitment to community development.
“We believe investing in the community means putting our children first and we believe as the business community we have an obligation to our respective communities hence we have decided to assist our schools where possible,” he said.
Nkadimeng added that the company will continue to work with schools to empower future leaders.
Mmauwane Secondary School’s performance in the matric exams has been impressive, with a 100% pass rate in 2024.
The school’s achievement comes after hard work and dedication of its teachers and learners.
According to Jeffrey Hlabirwa Walker, Chairperson of Bana Ba Sekhukhune Community Solutions, small communities face challenges due to the shortage number of educators.
“Mmauwane Secondary School proved that teamwork and dedication yield positive results and their results is evident,” he said.
Walker said he believes that Kgoathi Bricks Manufacturers will set an example to other local businesses to come on board and participate in the development of their institutions of teaching and learning.
“We are stakeholders in the process of learning and we need to act as such as parents and community members,” he said.
Mmauwane Secondary School has achieved remarkable success in recent years, including 40% pass rate in 2021, 60.9% pass rate in 2022, 88.2% pass rate in 2023 and an impressive 100% pass rate in 2024.
In the 2023 academic year, the school scooped position 3 in their circuit, and were awarded a prize for most improved school in the area, while also crowned as the best performing school in terms of bachelor passes.
The following year in 2024, Mmawuane Secondary became the top performing school in the circuit, achieving 100% with all ten learners passing, and obtained position 1 in the circuit.
