Makhuduthamaga council holds fourth quarter ordinary meeting

JANE FURSE – Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM) Council’s fourth quarter ordinary meeting held a day before the July Month end deliberated on and processed key matters pertinent to the institution’s performance and service delivery.

The municipality registered seven projects which were being implemented as multi-year developments that are the Jane Furse RDP to Mogorwane road which is completed, Malegasane to Mapulane access road and bridge, which has been completed, Mohlala Mamone to R579 access road, which is also marked as completed, the Kome access road which at site establishment stage, Soetveld to Mphanama Thabeng access road which stands at 30% work stage, Jane Furse RDP to Mogorwane project, which is currently at practical completion and the Maraganeng access road and bridge project, which is completed.

The meeting also noted that the municipality registered 100% performance in the previous quarter on four key areas namely, the spatial rationale, local economic development, municipal transformation, and organisational development. It achieved 92% on service delivery, 93% on financial viability and 96% on good governance and public participation.

Thomas Mashabela, MLM spokesperson, said the municipality managed to address all the 23 audit findings highlighted in the Auditor General of South Africa’s Action Plan, pitching progress at 100%.

Mashabela indicated that moreover, 42 of the 47 findings identified by the municipality’s internal audit were also corrected as of June 2024.

Mayor Merah Mahlase announced the appointment of Mogobe Sam Malaka as Head of Infrastructure Development and Eric Makatishe Masoane as the Head of Economic Development and Planning.
