Moteti communities gets clean drinkable water

Moteti
The Executive Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM), Cllr Minah Bahula, has on Thursday 28 March handed-over two complete communal water boreholes to communities of Moteti outside Dennilton in the Moutse area.
Bahula delivered the significant boost to alleviate water shortages challenges faced by the communities of Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality (EMLM), specifically in Wards 01 and 02.
Previously, Moteti residents were subjected to get dirty water from the nearest rivers and wells, exposing them to waterborne diseases.
According to the district municipality, the two completed communal water boreholes have been officially handed-over as part of the ongoing efforts to address water scarcity in the district.
The municipality said these boreholes represent vital interim measures initiated by the leadership to alleviate water shortages and ensure access to clean water for residents.
With over 300 households set to benefit directly from this intervention, the initiative marks a crucial step towards enhancing the quality of life within the affected communities.
Each borehole is boasting a depth of 100 meters and equipped with a solar-powered direct current pump capable of pumping up to 5200 litres per hour at maximum capacity.
The water is directed to a single 10 000-liter elevated tank, which in turn feeds the community. This sustainable infrastructure will provide a reliable source of water for daily needs, empowering residents with improved access to this essential resource.
In addition to the borehole installations, the executive mayor has also overseen the official commencement of a new contract at Phucukani Village in Dennilton, EMLM Ward 06, to further expand water access within the municipality.
Mayor Bahula said the commitment cement the dedication of government to addressing long-standing challenges and ensuring the well-being of all residents.
She furthered expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in making the initiatives possible and reaffirms the commitment to ongoing collaboration in pursuit of sustainable solutions to water scarcity.
“Together, with the support of the community, we will continue working towards a future where every individual has access to clean and reliable water. In the next few days we will also be handing over contractors who will be drilling another badge of water boreholes to over 80 Magoši in Sekhukhune” said Bahula.
The executive mayor indicated that she will soon launch a programme to unblock and provide technical support to revive blocked water boreholes across the district.
