Suspects arrested for the murder of young mother
GA MASHISHI
Two suspects appeared before the Mecklenburg Magistrate’s Court this week on charges of kidnapping and murder. Their case has been postponed to a yet unconfirmed date.
The suspects were arrested on April 15, after a lifeless body of Gloria Mashabela (19) was found dumped at Ga Riba village on April 14.
Mashabela from Ga Mashishi in Driekop was last seen on February 17, when she left with her son to visit one of her relatives in the village.
The two never arrived at the relatives’ place but her son was found at the relatives’ neighbours, with no sign of her. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Sekhukhune on Friday forwarded message of sympathy to the Mashabela family.
“The discovery of the body happened after the intervention of the EFF in pursuing SAPS to strengthen and intensify their investigation.
“We are however disappointed for the fact that EFF first has to push SAPS before cases of this nature are cracked by the investigating officers.
“We wish to whistle to the communities to report cases to SAPS and don’t hesitate to contact the EFF leadership when their reported cases are not prioritised,” said EFF Sekhukhune’s regional secretary Gift Machaba.
