SAPS plead for assistance in arresting alleged murderer
GA MAMPHAHLANE
The Driekop SAPS are on a manhunt for the suspect who brutally killed a woman and also injured her four years old child last month. The deceased’s body was found in the bushes next to Mamphahlane village on March 26.
“On that day, the Police received a complaint from a member of the community about a child who was seen running in the street, bleeding with open wounds on the face. They reacted swiftly and rushed to the scene and upon arrival the child informed them that his mother was injured at the nearby bushes. A search for the woman ensued until she was subsequently found lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds all over her body,” said Limpopo SAPS spokesman Brig Motlafelo Mojapelo.
He said members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned and the woman was certified dead on the scene. The child was admitted at a local hospital for medical treatment.
“The deceased has still not yet identified. She is a young woman who might be in her thirties and was wearing a blue jean skirt and a white t-shirt with black tiger print. The child is still being treated in hospital and is unable to shed any light in this matter,” added Mojapelo.
According to the SAPS, the motive behind the incident is currently unknown at this stage but domestic or gender based violence cannot be ruled out.
“The brutal nature of this incident requires that the suspect be brought to book as speedily as possible. I therefore call upon members of the community to assist the Police in the investigations,” said Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe.
Cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened and anyone with information that can help with investigations and in locating the family of the murdered woman, may urgently contact the Driekop Station Commander, Capt Samuel Segabutla on 071 602 0460 or crime stop number 0860010111or nearest Police station or My SAPSApp. Police investigations are continuing.
