R14 Road continues to be an eyesore

MOUTSE – Lack of proper maintenance of the R14 Road linking Elandsdoorn in Moutse and the Loskop Dam remains a cause for concern for residents in the area.

The residents raised concerns that relevant authorities continued to ignore their calls for help with regard to the poor state of the road.

According to the concerned residents several of their attempts to get the authorities to frequently and properly maintain the road were not successful.

And with the current heavy rains within Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality, they worried that the road has once again flooded, making traveling on it a safety risk for motorists.

They lambasted that water has damaged the road further to an extent that has caused dongas on its perimeter, posing a serious danger to the users.

The angry residents added that for years they have had to endure the bad state of the road but authorities seemed not interested to intervene.

Seun Mogotji, a community leader, said that potholes on the road, especially in Ntwane Village and towards Loskop Dam T-junction, continued unattended amid residents’ complaints over the years.

Mogotji said there was an urgent need and immediate intervention by those responsible for the road.

“We need attention on the matter. We have been raising the matter for years and no one seems to care,” concluded Mogotji.
