Ward 4 saluted for soccer Mecca

MAKHUDUTHAMAGA – Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Mayor, Minah Bahula has on 30 December 2021 officiated the presentation of the awards ceremony for soccer teams that participated in the annual soccer tournament organized in ward 4 of the municipality and thanked the organizers for the initiative.

During the awards ceremony, Mayor Bahula said that sport in general ensured that young people were removed from the streets where they engaged in social ills like crime and abuse of other dangerous substances.

Bahula said that participation in sports also promoted a healthy lifestyle and socialization for young people and saluted the sponsors and organizers for the event of that magnitude.

“In sports it is not about winning. It is about building and the creation of socialization and friendship relations to the benefit of the entire community. Let us continue to encourage our youth to focus and fully understand and participate in the development of sports and other recreational activities and codes.

As the municipality and the leadership present here, we would like to encourage other wards to emulate what we see here in ward 4. It is indeed commendable,” said Bahula.

Wonderful showcasing of soccer commenced with 32 teams on 22 December 2021. Tebele United FC from Phatanstwane Village in ward 6 outplayed Nigeria FC from Ga-Malaka Village in ward 7 with a 1-0 victory in the end of the soccer Mecca.
