Woman gruesomely murdered allegedly by boyfriend
MONSTERLUS – A 22 year-old man allegedly stabbed a woman to death and critically injured the deceased woman’s sister at Selahliwe Village in Monsterlus outside Groblersdal on Friday evening.
The suspect was reportedly at his 26 year-old girlfriend’s home in the area that evening at about 22:30 when an argument allegedly broke out between him and the deceased.
The 22 year-old suspect allegedly produced a knife and stabbed his alleged girlfriend to death and he, in the process, stabbed the deceased’s sister, critically wounding her. The critically wounded sister was taken to hospital.
The younger brother to the sisters reportedly managed to escape the ordeal unharmed and alerted the neighbours.
On Sunday afternoon, members of the community in the area mobilized after learning about the incident and went to the suspect’s house where they set it alight. There was no one in the house.
Limpopo SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, strongly condemned the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) incident and ordered the police to hunt down the suspect and bring him to book.
Hadebe also condemned the actions of the local community for torching the suspect’s house and urged them to instead, assist the police in hunting down the culprit.
Police are requesting Maxwell Mashegoane from Selahliwe Village in Monsterlus (pictured) to avail himself at any nearest police station as it believed he will be able to assist in the investigation of the gruesome cases.
