MOHLALETSE – The Democratic Alliance in Limpopo joined the rest of the country in expressing sadness and shock over the passing on of King Victor Thulare III.
King Thulare III was the Paramount King of Bapedi nation after he was declared the legitimate by the Constitutional Court about nine months ago. He received his certificate of recognition late last year.
The DA described King Thulare III as one committed to nation building and fostering unity, uplifting marginalized communities and improving the lives of Bapedi nation.
Jacques Smalle, DA Limpopo Provincial Leader, as the party they believed that traditional leadership could play an integral role in enhancing tradition and culture as well as being drivers and agents of rural development and socio-economic empowerment.
Smalle said on behalf of the DA, he would like to extend their deepest condolences to the royal family, royal council and the Bapedi people during the difficult time of loss. “Our thoughts and prayers are with you all,” concluded Smalle.
Meanwhile, Stanley Ramaila, Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) Executive Mayor, sending his condolences, said King Thulare III ‘Bauba a Hlabirwa, played his part nobly and with understanding of the responsibility and leadership the people of Sekhukhune required.
Ramaila said Kin Thulare III further displayed a positive and energetic view with a clear vision on how to protect the wealth of the district, in particular the mining sector.
“My deepest sympathy goes out to his mother Maanyaku Maria Thulare ‘Hlapogadi a Phaahla’, wife of the late Kgoshi Kgolo Rhyne Thulare Sekhukhune,” said Ramaila.
King Victor Thulare passed on last week at a hospital in Johannesburg. The cause of death is not known. The King’s funeral service will be held in Mohlaletse Village on Sunday under strict Covid-19 lockdown Alert level 3 regulations.
