More villages calls for dissolve of merged municipality
BURGERSFORT
Previous local elections which were held in 2016 saw former Fetakgomo Municipality and former Greater Tubatse being merged to form current Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality.
The decision did not impress many locals and residents, since they embarked on an on-going campaign, calling the current municipality to dissolve the merger.
Now areas such as Ga-Maila, Tswaing, Vlaka and Thabampshe have joint the campaign.
Locals want to be demarcated to Fetakgomo saying the merger between the former greater Tubatse municipality (GTM) and Fetakgomo municipality was done improperly, cited not being afforded opportunity to participate in the process.
Since the merger of the two municipalities the municipal demarcation board changed wards demarcation and municipal boundaries.
Residents are calling municipality to consult the demarcation board, Premier Chupu Mathabatha and MEC for cooperative governance and human settlement and traditional affairs, Basikopo Makamu with regard to the cancellation of the merger.
