Two suspects remained behind bars for allege corruption

Two suspects Paseka Nkosi and Macdonald Maredi, who were arrested for alleged corruption and impersonating The Hawks members in Marble Hall, have appeared in the Groblersdal magistrate court and their cases postponed to November 27.
The department spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke said two suspects were arrested on weekend after a complainant reported them.
Complainant is a director of a company that was awarded a tender to supply covid-19 personal protective equipment in Mpumalanga.
Matimaba said the complainant allegedly received a call from the suspect who introduced themselves as a member of the Hawks stationed in Mpumalanga
“The suspect allegedly told the victim that he was investigating a case of corruption against him and demanded 50 000 in order to squash the docket,” said Maluleke
“The matter was reported to the police, who then opened a corruption investigation, which acted swiftly and led to the arrest of the two suspects immediately after receiving 20 000,” he said
Maluleke confirmed preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect are not members of the Hawks as they allegedly claimed.
However the suspects were found in a possession of fraudulent documents with the Hawks.
Both suspects remain in custody following their court appearance till to date.
