APEL – The Highway Patrol Team of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo have arrested four suspects aged between 26 and 33 years-old for house robbery, bribery, possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes.
This during the team’s operations that were conducted from 16 November 2020 until 18 November 2020 in Apel, Mankweng and Mokopane areas.
Colonel Moatshe Ngeope, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said the team arrested two suspects for bribery and possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes while operating in the area on 17 November 2020.
Ngoepe said the team received a tip-off, followed it up and recovered 98 cartoons of illicit cigarettes, cash amount of money.
He said the team arrested the suspects immediately and one of them tried to bribe the police with a R1000 and a bribery charge was then added.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, commended the Limpopo Highway Patrol team for their relentless efforts in the fight against all categories of crimes across the province.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
