Multimillion rand RDP project remains incomplete

Incomplete RDP house project in Ga Masemola, Pitjaneng section remains a nightmare to the beneficiaries.

Ward 29, residents, in the Makhuduthamaga local municipality said the abandoned project has been stalled for four years now.

Masemola and Matlanyane were two families who spoke out, they were holding onto the hope that the RDP project would one day be completed.

According to the beneficiaries appointed contractor abandoned his incomplete work and not even a single official has come out to explain to them why.

“This is an act of disrespect by ANC led government,” said families.

Residents said over 11 RDP houses were structured, only 9 constructed and 2 are still on foundation phase.

“Nine constructed houses were left without windows and doors. Some of us used maize meals sacks to put as a measure of windows so they could move in,” explained mother of five.

Two remained foundations exposed criminality of officials according to the residents.

“These 2 foundations were unlawfully awarded to the people outside our demarcation,” said residents.

They said no one knew who the rightful owner of those stands was and foundations were just laid without anyone knowing anything.

The department of cooperative governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs, spokesperson, Motupa Selomo, after received queries he said he was still sorting out some issues regarding the matter and promised to give update afterwards.
