The Road Agency Limpopo has given an update over underway construction of D4200 and D2219 roads in the Sekhukhune district.

Back in 2019, the D4200 road caused public discourse where royal families in Ga Maila and Mphanama felt victimised on why the road was unfinished and they blamed responsible project manager for abandoning it for more than six months without consultations.

Royalties further accused RAL for non-communication the period construction commences of D4200 road which pass through Madibong to Apel, and they demanded answers on why the project was unfinished.

But with recent update, Sekhukhune Times learned that Makhuduthamaga and Fetakgomo Tubatse local municipalities turned into construction sites.

According to RAL, the construction is underway in Sekhukhune municipalities constructing 23.66 kilometres of D4200 road from Marulaneng alongside Ga Maila and to Ga Nchabeleng.

RAL said the project is for the rehabilitation of 4km of the exiting surfaced road and upgrade, from gravel road to bituminous (tarred) surface, of 19, 33 km of road d4200 in Mphanama through Ga Maila and Madibong to road d2219 in Jane furse

“The multiyear project is 79 percent complete, with 9km of the road already surfaced and one bridge completed. It is the last link to be surfaced between Mphanama and Jane furse, and it is on track for its estimated time of completion which is on March 2021,” said RAL.
