MOUTSE – The police in Dennilton outside Groblersdal have opened a case of murder after Groblersdal South African Police Service (SAPS) Station Commander, the 57 year-old Colonel Jeffry Seroka, was shot and killed by unknown assailant(s) outside his house in Maganagobuswa Village on Saturday, 17 October 2020, morning at about 4:30.
According to police, the suspect(s) thereafter took Colonel Seroka’s motor vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux and fled the scene.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said a police manhunt immediately ensued for the suspect(s) and the vehicle was found abandoned along the Dennilton-Matlerekeng Road.
Mojapelo said preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased woke up early in the morning and prepared to go to a funeral. At about 4:30, he went out of the house and as he was about to leave, he was shot dead in front of his gate.
Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, Limpopo SAPS Commissioner, has instructed the police work hard to make sure the killer(s) were hunted down and brought to book. All the necessary and available resources have been mobilized to implement a 72-hour activation plan towards the apprehension of the suspect(s), according to police.
Mojapelo said the motive behind the killing was unknown but police investigations were continuing.
