BPSA calls for attention on the bad state of R25 road
MOUTSE – The Bolsheviks Party of South Africa has expressed concerns over the state of the R25 road near Bloempoort in Moutse outside Groblersdal within Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality.
The BPSA said it was concerned that the current dilapidated state of the road in the area posed a serious danger to both motorists and pedestrians.
According to the BPSA, an opposition with Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) council, the road remained in a dangerous state despite several efforts in made in the past to engage authorities.
Seun Mogotji, BPSA leader, said they urgently requested Limpopo MECs for Public Works and Roads, Transport and Community safety to intervene in the matter in order to save lives.
“The matter relates to the R25 road in Moutse, the road closer to Uitspanning/Bloempoort. This community is affected by a high number of accidents occurring repeatedly around the area as a result of the bad state of the road. We recently experienced two accidents occurring within a short space of time. Unfortunately, a life was lost in one of these accidents” said Mogotji.
Mogotji said they suggested therefore that to bring the situation under control and save lives, standardized speed humps be erected on the road, availability of visible road signs indicating speed limits, pedestrian crossing-lines to aid learners crossing the road and the dispatching of traffic officers to assist learners crossing the road in the morning and afternoons.
“The two MECs were timely able to give attention when it was required in the past. We hope even this time around, they will promptly be able to save lives in the area,” concluded Mogotji.
