A driven phenomenal and a professional fashion designer, James Mampuru (29), from Thamagane Village, outside Lebowakgomo, said he is passionate about crafting haute culture clothes with high quality.
Growing up James thought he would lose his art for love, but that never happened, rather, his love grew stronger.
He defeated high school educators who tried to convince him to consider other options instead of doing fashion design.
He is successfully, went on to pursue his art work and in the meantime he works in a township where majority of his clients are poverty stricken due to the rising unemployment rate.
“I knew from a young age that I wanted to be in a field where I would use my own hand to do art, so I guess craft chose me and I am happy,” he said
He said covid-19 has negatively impacted his work but that never discouraged him to continue doing his good work.
“Covid-19 has brought fear and uncertainty. We were never prepared for something like it,” said professional designer.
James has vowed to continue designing because this is not only a professional job for him but also a lifestyle.
Through the challenges he encounters, James still finds great joy in his work.
“I am passionate about creating luxury items for my clients and most importantly, teamwork is essential in the sphere of art,” he concluded.
