The sheriff of the court confiscated three tipper trucks, a TLB and a grader at the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality last Wednesday. The vehicles were all at the old buildings of the municipality.
According to Elias Mohlala (Sheriff), the seizing of the assets follows the FTLM’s failure to pay one of its clients’ money in the region of R1.2 million.
“This debt dates back from 2017; this municipality has lost their court case at the Polokwane High Court on 31 July. The properties taken will only be returned after they settle the debt. If they don’t pay, I take,” he warned.
Locals that were present during the removal of the properties were concerned about the acceleration of services in the FTLM.
“How can they succeed in ensuring services are delivered to the people, while their movable assets are always seized by the Sheriff,” questioned one of the onlookers.
On Monday, Mohlala confirmed that all the seized assets were returned after the municipality finally managed to settle the debt.
