MAYOR MATHEBE CONDEMNS GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN ELIAS MOTSOALEDI
Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Julia Mathebe, strongly condemns the continuous incidents of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) of killing innocent and defenceless souls of women and children.
In the latest incident, a 35 year old woman from Sterkfontein, Nkadimeng section (Ward 29), Elizabeth Tjiane was brutally murdered by her boyfriend who is the father of her younger daughter. This incident occurred last Saturday during the night, the lifeless body of the victim was found lying on the floor.
The municipality denounces these inhumane practices, and urges men to protect women and children in the parameters of the municipality.
” We will show zero tolerance to these cruel and sorrowful incidents and we can’t allow them to continue in our communities, this should come to an end!
We urge men to be role model to boys and to teach them good morals values in order to produce strong and healthy families,” urges the Mayor.
In addition she calls all men to regard protecting women and children as their responsibility.
Lastly she urges parents to teach boys that abuse has no place in our society. No one has the right to abuse any human beings.
Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality Mayor says she would like to conveys her deepest condolences to the bereaved family and urges the South African Police Service (SAPS) to ensure that the perpetrator is apprehended and finally face the full might of the law.
