Covid-19 recoveries impresses Sekhukhune DCC
SEKHUKHUNE – The Covid-19 District Command Council (DCC) in Sekhukhune has on Tuesday, 11 August 2020, during its weekly meeting, heard of the impressive number of coronavirus recoveries in the district.
According to the DCC, the latest Coronavirus statistics, released during the virtual meeting, showed that as of 11 August 2020, the number of Covid-19 cases was 2031 with 382 active cases, 20 deaths and 1629 recoveries, amounting to 73 percent.
The DCC said Fetakgomo Tubaste Local Municipality was leading with numbers of both positive cases and deaths.
The council also heard that at 52 schools, 78 educators, 13 learners, 3 support staff have tested positive for the virus. An educator was confirmed dead as a result of the coronavirus in Sekhukhune.
Executive Mayor Stanley Ramaila, Chairperson of the DCC, said as the council they reiterated their clarion call that those latest figures called upon all to get into action.
Ramaila said as the Spring season approached, they should not relax and say it was the end of Covid-19. “We need to keep on fighting by adhering to all the regulations governing coronavirus. We however, are disturbed that there are still some pockets in our society who believe that they can bury their dead as they wish. We are saying this cannot be allowed,” said Ramaila.
