ANC Sekhukhune region rejects call for Premier Mathabatha’s removal
SEKHUKHUNE – The ANC in Sekhukhune region has announced that it rejected calls by the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) for the removal of Limpopo Premier Chupu Mathabatha.
The ANC in the region said it noted with contempt the ‘illogical’ attack on Premier Mathabatha, who is also the provincial Chairperson of the party in Limpopo.
According to the party, Premier Mathabatha’s attackers were claiming to be the leadership of SANCO in the province.
Tshepo Matenche, ANC Sekhukhune Region Spokesperson, said the real SANCO leadership knew the manner and the place where alliance matters were discussed.
Matenche said as the ANC in the region they were however unable to get the gist of the Premier Mathabatha’s attackers’ issues, as the issues lacked substance and were baseless.
He added that they classified the call by the attackers for the removal of Premier Mathabatha as bitter and baseless for its lack of political substance.
“And as the ANC Sekhukhune region, we wish to put it categorically clear that Comrade Stanley Mathabatha has worked wonders in the rebuilding of the ANC and restoring confidence of our people in both the ANC and government since he was introduced to fix the calamities in the province.
The ANC in Sekhukhune region is proud to be associated with Comrade Chupu, a dedicated and discipline cadre produced by the congress movement. He is a product of the ANC Tjantjie Kabini Branch located in Elias Motsoaledi Sub-region,” said Matenche.
Matenche said it was through Mathabatha’s hard work, dedication and passion to change the lives of the ordinary and for that reason, the ANC Sekhukhune region saw it necessary to share that great blessing with the entire province to help transform the lives of the people.
“We unreservedly support our provincial chairperson as Premier on the good job he is doing to implement the ANC manifesto that epitomizes a covenant with the people. Without mincing words, we want to categorically reject this unfounded and disingenuous calls made by a disgruntled parallel SANCO. In the same breath, we call upon the ANC Limpopo PEC and NEC to ignore such calls.
This call for the removal of Comrade Stan Mathabatha is nothing but an attempt to defocus the Premier from core mandate of delivering basic services to our people, and rooting out malfeasance and corruption.
We strongly condemn and reject any attempts by disgruntled agents masquerading as civic organization in the quest to defocus us,” said Matenche.
Matenche further said the ANC Sekhukhune region called on all its members and the public at large to ignore that ‘misleading’ call.
“Comrade Chupu Mathabatha is going nowhere and subsequent to that, he would lead the province both as Provincial Chairperson of the ANC until the end of his term of office. We call upon our MDM formations and workers’ unions to refrain from using our beloved structures to canvass matters that squarely fall within the ambit of the ANC structures through the use of the media,” said Matenche.
SANCO’s call for the removal of Premier Mathabatha followed after the premier and Limpopo Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs MEC, Basikopo Makamu, unveiled 40 temporary structures for Talana Hostel residents in Tzaneen amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The structures are currently under construction at Dresden for the residents of Extension 10 in Burgersfort.
