Battle continue between ward committee and unhappy residents

Problem facing Mahlakaseleng residents in ward 25 under Makhuduthamaga local municipality are increasing when it comes to constant toilet project.

A week ago, residents expressed their unhappiness due to criteria and protocols which were used by Mokgohlwe Seshothela who is ward committee in the area to hire people to work for the toilets project.

Community members believe that Mokgohlwe had practised nepotism and favouritism to appoint people who would work in the project.

Anonymous said construction commenced on Thursday without site offices but later the project was stopped by saddened residents.

According to the residents, only after construction was stopped Mokgohlwe admitted that she did not do justice when she was hiring people.

Resident lamented how the project started saying ward committee had messed up the lives of many in the area.

They said Mokgohlwe reversed her shocked decision where she hired three people from one household.

Residents said they want proximity bricklayers and people who are income less to be considered when hiring.

“We don’t have leadership that takes us seriously. Nobody listens to us. We are actually on our own and nobody cares about us at all,” explained residents

It is believed that the construction would remain stopped until community and ward committee resolves the matter.
