TOOITSKRAAL – Two foreign nationals were arrested after the discovery of drugs worth R10 million and drugs manufacturing equipment on Terra Nostra Game Farm in the Tooitskraal area outside Marble Hall on Tuesday, 16 June 2020, evening.
Police also recovered two pistols and two shotguns, seven shotgun ammunition and ten 9mm rounds, and drug manufacturing chemicals together with drug manufacturing equipment during the bust at about 21h00 that evening.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said information received from community members in Marble Hall area was put to fruition when the police members attached to the Tekkie Squad from Dennilton and Marble Hall police station followed it up and discovered the drug laboratory at the farm.
Mojapelo said the operation was conducted until the early hours of Wednesday, 17 June 2020, morning. Preliminary investigations revealed that more suspects could have been on the farm and that necessitated a massive manhunt.
“Due to the vastness of the area and a bushy environment, some of the suspects managed to evade arrest,” said Mojapelo.
He said that investigations pointed to the fact that the farm was allegedly bought recently by the suspect of foreign origin who paid millions of rands in cash.
The suspects, aged 25 and 27 are expected to appear before the Marble Hall Magistrates Court soon.
Major General Jan Scheepers, Limpopo Acting Provincial Commissioner, applauded SAPS members for acting on the information provided and apprehending the suspects.
“This drug lab has the capacity to supply the entire country with illicit drugs,” said Scheepers.
