DENNILTON/MARBLE HALL – A suspect was on Saturday, 06 June 2020 evening, fatally wounded and two others arrested during a foiled armed robbery incident, including a farm attack in Marble Hall and Dennilton areas.
According to police information was received about a group of suspects travelling in a white Mazda bakkie who planned to commit armed robberies in Dennilton and Marble Hall areas.
A team comprising the Technical Response Team (TRT) and Crime Intelligence Unit assisted by members of the South African Defence Force was assembled and made a follow up on the information.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said a vehicle matching the description was spotted at Lusaka Village and the members ordered the driver to stop.
Mojapelo said the suspects allegedly started shooting at the members who returned fire and in the process, a suspect was fatally wounded, two others were injured and taken to hospital and the fourth managed to evade arrest.
He said police recovered a firearm, police bulletproof vest, a reflector jacket and a cap and the car in which the suspects were travelling was also seized.
The suspects aged 33 and 39 are expected to appear before the Moutse Magistrates Court soon on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted murder.

Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers commended the members for accordingly reacting to the information about the planned robberies and apprehension of the suspects.
