Spitsvale Mine donated 800 face masks to the community of Dithamaga last week.
The mine headed the call by President Cyril Ramaphosa for companies to assist communities during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic.
BCR Spitsvale’s managing director Walter Murray said they realized that some local communities lacked the masks and decided to assist.
“This are indeed tough times, the safety of our communities is our priority. We urge locals to comply with the Covid-19 regulations. “
The villagers were on cloud nine after receiving the masks. Some of them acknowledge that they didn’t have the masks.
“We are grateful to the mine for handing over the masks to us. May they grow bigger and continue assisting the needy. “
