GA-PHASHA SELATOLE – A 50 year-old man who allegedly killed his four children at Ga-Phasha Selatole Village outside Burgersfort in February this year was denied bail when he appeared before the Mecklenburg Magistrates Court on Thursday, 28 May 2020.
The 50 year-old man who had his bail application denied was remanded to 16 July 2020 for formal bail application.
The bodies of the children were found at two different locations in the area after the man allegedly informed a neighbour that day about the murders and also indicating to the neighbour the places where the bodies were.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said police were informed and on arrival, the lifeless bodies of three the children aged 09, 07 and 05 were found in the nearby bushes and that of a 3 year-old was found next to a local mountain, at about three kilometers from the first scene.
Mojapelo said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect stopped the vehicle transporting the kids from school on Monday, 17 February 2020 at about 15:30 and the driver of the vehicle who knew the father, stopped and let the kids go with their father.
“Three of the children were found with stab wounds. The youngest was found with open wounds,” explained Mojapelo.
The children were identified as boys Katlego (9) and Adel (3) and girls Joyce (7) and Tshepo all Phasha(s). Four counts of murder have been opened against the accused.
