Sekhukhune records 88 Covid-19 recoveries

SEKHUKHUNE – There had been recoveries for those who were infected by the Covid-19 pandemic in the Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM).

According to the District Command Council (DCC), 88 people have recovered from 108 positive cases.

The SDM is currently having 19 active cases and one fatality.

The cases were recorded in the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, with one in Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality.

“Comparatively, as Sekhukhune, we are pleased with the large percentage of recoveries. However, we still maintain that one life lost is one too many.

“As we reached alert Level 3 as of 1 June 2020, we are appealing to our people never to relax. Our clarion call still remains Social Distancing, covering our faces with Masks, washing our hands with water and soap and staying at home if going out is not necessary” said executive mayor Cllr Keamotseng Stanley Ramaila.

Ramaila was speaking during the DCC’s weekly virtual meeting on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the DCC also discussed among others, transport and community safety issues, compliance, fumigation of taxi ranks and road blocks as well as the water supply throughout the district.

Ramaila took the opportunity to rally Sekhukhune’s support towards the gradual reopening of the economy.

He further reported that the DCC’s engagement with mining managers was fruitful.
