POLOKWANE – A total of twelve cattle were found slaughtered at a farm outside Polokwane on Saturday 30 May and also on 01 June.
The SAPS in Polokwane launched a manhunt for the unknown suspects who are apparently moving around the farms on the outskirts of Polokwane, slaughtering cattle possibly for their meat.
“Eight carcasses were found during the early hours of Monday at Palmitfontein which is situated next to the Silicon road.
“The suspects were apparently disturbed as they left all the carcasses and instruments they used to dismember the animals,” said Limpopo SAPS spokesman Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
He said the other three cattle were found slaughtered on May 30 at the same farm.
“The suspects in this incident managed to take the carcasses and left only small portions of meat.”
The police received information from the cattle herds soon after midnight, complaining that they can’t locate a number of cattle on the said farm.
This after the three cattle were found slaughtered on Saturday. On arrival, they started to conduct searches on the farm and then discovered the carcasses.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba has instructed that the suspects be hunted down until they are brought to book.
A case of Stocktheft has been opened at the Polokwane SAPS.
Those with information about the incidents are requested to contact Captain Lucky Ramashala on 082 371 8117, or Crime Stop number 0860010111 or the nearest police station.
