Mmathapisa residents implore bypass to stop littering

Not even the nationwide lockdown could prevent bypass to throw away trashes which may ended up causing illegal dumping.

A concerned Mmathapisa resident who’s living next to the illegal dumping site, Thoka Sebola, said unpleasant smell of the waste becomes problem to his health.

Thoka said the illegal dumping site started, with only a few waste materials disposed of by bypass.

According to Thoka the site now is full of garbage and motorists can no longer us it.

“As community we should know better and keep our place clean. We have to take a step to deal with non-compliances. Although we do not have any proper garbage site to dispose of our waste materials to,” said Thoka

“Few debris attracted many people to littering their trash here and now it has become illegal dumping. The waste materials disposed of by people here are now leaving turned into a bad smell which affects our health,” he said.

Thoka said: “Unpleasant smells makes us to not enjoy our food,”

Another resident who lived in the area for two years said the place was no longer conducive to humans’ health.

She said the place is now being targeted by waste pickers since is full of dumped materials such as glass, plastics and other materials.
