Residents continue to lose their livestock

With the current nationwide lockdown regulations, everyone is expected to stay at home from about the 08:00pm to 05: 00am in the morning, except police officials and the defence force.

However for culprit this is seen as an opportunistic to continue looting to the society, as Mogobeng residents suffered great loss to their livestock.

According to the residents perpetrators had targeted their area to make house break in and stealing their livestock.

Therefore residents blamed the lockdown restrictions.

One of the victims, Remmogo Makgati said its bad experience for smallholding as criminal do as they wish in their village. She said they destroyed the wall to enter in her yard at night illegally.

In her addition, she said one of the biggest factors contributing to the increased crime in the area was believed to be due to the current national lockdown regulations that prohibit the local community Policing Forum (CPR) from patrolling after restriction.

“We are not allowed to patrol, especially after curfew when the criminals roam the area,” she said.

Another victim, Matome Maja who claimed that culprits took his two sheep said they destroyed his wire fence and removed the kraal’s gate.

“They took my two sheep and ran away,” he adds.

Expressing his feeling said he’s very disappointed how criminals get away with their nasty activity.

Matome said the following day he saw three armed men with pangas entered neighbour’s yard illegally but could not steal anything because they noticed that he saw them.

“Unfortunately, we can’t patrol at night right now because of the lockdown situation,” said Matome

Matome said suspects managed to ran away after noticing that he woke up.
