Limpopo premier Stan Mathabatha and the Provincial Command Council visited Marula Platinum Mine outside Burgersfort on May 5 to check their preparedness on the Covid-19 rules and regulations adherence.
Mathabatha was joined by MEC of health Dr Phophi Ramathuba, Thabo Mokone of Ledet, as well as Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s mayor Ralepane Mamekoa.
On arrival all the dignitaries were screened.
The team was pleased as the mine adhered to the standard requirements of Covid-19 rules and regulations. The visit included checking of swab testing facilities, response plan, and inspection of quarantine sites.
According to the premier, the visit was prompted by several unions and community members.
“The mine has a well equipped medical centre and a quarantine site. They also follow protocols of screening and testing and they at all times sanitize and wash hands” revealed Ramathuba.
