Limpopo government to assist in building a home for a needy family.

GA-MAMPURU

The Limpopo government has pledged to assist in erecting a new house for a pensioner in Steelpoort.

The elderly woman lives in a three roomed shack with her 12 grandchildren at Ga Mampuru village.

Two weeks ago, a local foundation ( Letsogo le lefang) revealed that the gogo’s SASSA card was held by a spaza shop owner for the past four years.

She hasn’t been withdrawing her grant since 2016.

This after she allegedly bought some groceries at the shop on credit.

The 69 year old gogo is one of 52 residents whose SASSA cards are held by business owners in the area after they took groceries on credit.

The foundation has assisted in getting back the gogo’s card and also recently donated groceries to her family.

The MECs for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale and Basikopo Makamu (Cooperative governance, human settlements and traditional affairs) visited the needy family on Tuesday.

They were partnered by the political leadership of the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) and the local Tribal Authority.

The departments provided food parcels and a temporary shelter, while a contractor who committed to build the house is busy with the construction work.
