Off-duty police officer robbed allegedly by known taxi patrollers

NEBO – An off-duty police officer was allegedly attacked by a group driving in vehicles in Nebo area outside Jane Furse on Saturday.

Police said it is reported that day, 18 April 2020 at about 13:30, the off-duty police officer was driving in his private vehicle to Jane Furse to pickup his female friend when a group of people driving in vehicles cornered and instructed him to stop.

Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said the off-duty police officer drove straight to the taxi rank to seek help.

Mojapelo said the group followed the officer, robbed him of R500 amount of money and even damaged his vehicle.

According to Mojapelo the suspects, who are not yet arrested, are known to be taxi patrollers in the area.

Police are investigating a case of common robbery.
