BURGERSFORT- More than 30 motorists were arrested for non-compliance with the Covid-19 lockdown measures in Tubatse.
According to Chief traffic officer, at the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) Victor Lekwadu as of Tuesday 35 motorists were arrested.
“Traffic officers in the town are out on the local roads in full force during the lockdown to ensure drivers adhere to the measures implicated.
Speaking to the Sekhukhune Times, Lekwadu, said road safety would be a top priority during the lockdown.
We won’t tire or relent in our campaign to make our roads safer,” he said.
He added that the arrested drivers will appear before the local courts during the month of May.
“The taxis were impounded and all the drivers were handed free bail.”
