APEL – Three more suspects were arrested in connection with illegal mining activities in the Apel area late last week.
According to police it is alleged that their members were conducting operations targeting illegal miners at Bogalatladi Village and Zoekoegat Farm when they received information which they accurately followed until they arrested the three suspects. The other group managed to evade arrest.
Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said police recovered a tipper truck, tools, a bucket with chrome, a generator, a wheelbarrow and an electric cable during the arrest of the suspects.
Acting Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Samuel Manala, applauded the provincial team for ensuring that illegal mining syndicates were dealt with head-on and without compromise.
The suspects are expected to appear before Sekhukhune Magistrates Court soon.
