ANC Sekhukhune regional conference looms

PHOKWANE – The African National Congress (ANC) Sekhukhune regional conference is set to take place in May this year to elect its new leadership ahead of the 2021 local government elections.

The party made the announcement during its Special Regional General Council (SRGC) at Moreko High School in Phokwane Village outside Jane Furse, Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality.

Regional Chairperson, who is also Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor, Stanley Ramaila and ANC Provincial Spokesperson, Limpopo Premier Chupu Mathabatha, addressed the SRGC.

Tshepo Matenche, regional spokesperson, said the elective conference was envisaged for 15 to 17 May 2020 at Zithabiseni Resort and Conference Centre.

Matenche said that was in accordance with an SRGC adopted roadmap following a decision of the Regional Executive Committee (REC), to be presented towards its eminent said conference.

Matenche added that according to the roadmap all branches were expected to commence Branch General Meetings (BGMs) with effect from 25 March to 25 April this year.

According to Matenche the REC called on all members of the AANC in the region to exercise maximum discipline during crucial BGMs.

“The SRGC agreed and resolved on calling all members to exercise maximum discipline guided by an oath we took as members, organizational code of conduct,  the organization’s constitution imperative and dictates, organization’s principles and revolutionary morality,” said Matenche, further indicating that the SRGC and the entire REC were working tirelessly as a collective to convene a successful conference.

Matenche said the Acting Regional Secretary, Tala Mathope, declared the REC combatant ready to deliver a progressive, well organized and successful conference.

“The REC also had an opportunity to deliberate on a discussion document which will guide its communication and voter contact activities towards the 2021 local government elections.

“This document will further serve as a blue print to be used to constantly engage and update the residents of Sekhukhune on the work of the ANC relating to service deliver, its principles, values and highlight its noble activities and work within communities. Branches are expected to make their additional inputs for finalization and adoption by the conference,” added Matenche.
